Altamonte Springs places to stay

Altamonte Springs is a midsize town and Orlando suburb in Seminole County known for its numerous parks, shopping districts, and easy access to a vast array of Central Florida attractions. Palm-adorned pedestrian walkways line the waterfront of the Uptown Altamonte neighborhood — the central commercial hub with frequent lakeside concerts and the Urban Basket Farmers’ Market, a monthly event with vendors selling locally grown produce and handcrafted goods.

With the Rock Springs Run State Reserve just to the north and Orlando to the south, Altamonte Springs is an excellent base for day trips and a broader exploration of the region. Less than an hour away, the nature reserve has over 14,000 acres of wilderness available for exploration, with hiking trails and marshlands open to the public. And for more cultural offerings, Orlando has thriving nightlife, shopping, and entertainment options with more than a dozen theme and water parks to experience.

The humid, subtropical climate of Altamonte Springs means seasonal variations are primarily centered around the volume of rain and moderate swings in temperature. The summer months are the hottest, with sweltering temperatures, high humidity, and frequent rainfall. Conversely, the winters see temperatures drop somewhat — occasionally getting chilly at night — with significant reductions in precipitation.

The shoulder seasons tend to be pleasant times for travelers to look for vacation rentals in Altamonte Springs. During the spring and fall, temperatures are great for swimming, paddling, and other water activities — but without the increase in the summer rain. The drier conditions are also great for exploring Central Florida and its many festivals on offer — like the Rotary Art, Craft, and Wine Festival, where local artists sell their work in November alongside food and wine vendors.

Wekiwa Springs State Park

The more than 7,000 acres of Wekiwa Springs State Park are spread between protected native subtropical forests, spring-fed swimming holes, and swampy wetlands. Within the bounds of the park, black bears, wild turkeys, eagles, wood storks, and alligators have made their home. You can explore the forests through miles of hiking trails, check out the water ecologies in a canoe, or swim among the clear blue waters here.

Cranes Roost Park

This 45-acre park along the soft, wooded edge of Cranes Roost Lake features miles of cobblestone walkways and green areas where you can bask in the sun and enjoy a picnic. In the park’s center is a plaza that’s also a gathering point for events and concerts throughout the year, which happen at the amphitheater and unique floating stage.

Uptown Altamonte

The Uptown district is the shopping hub of Altamonte Springs. Boutiques and streetside cafes dot this lakefront neighborhood. Dine at one of the many restaurants, bakeries, or grab-and-go eateries here, spend an afternoon exploring art galleries, or check out a concert at the outdoor Eddie Rose Amphitheater.
