The Howard Street Home is an original Superintendent's residence built in 1859. HSH is an exclusive B&B with the most beautiful views distinguishing it from all other B&B's in Virginia City. The common areas include a Victorian parlor, reading/music room, and a sitting room with a 24 hour Coffee/Beverage Bar. There are three yards available for guests to enjoy. The front yard views the historic town of Virginia City; the side yard includes the 100-mile view from a 6400 foot elevation and the back yard includes a view of the famous Ophir Mine, the original discovery of gold in Virginia City and purchased by George Hearst in 1959. “Spirits Rest Here” and we welcome you! Room #1: The Cartwright Room pays tribute to the famous, fictional family of four men who starred in the TV show "Bonanza" which is credited with reviving the town of Virginia City, Nevada and opening the town up to the tourist experience. This bedroom includes a private entrance, private bathroom with shower/tub, sink, and toilet. Awaken each morning to a beautiful sunrise view. This room exemplifies the American West, a land of legend, romance, friendship, loyalty and courage; a true BONANZA. Room #2: Mama's room is a tribute to our Mama, an immigrant from Belgium after WWII. Her European flair is exhibited with lavish colors, brass bed, period curtains, erotic statues, and photos of her heroines (Fashionista Coco Channel, Singer Edith Piaf, Entertainer Josephine Baker, and Hollywood actresses Clara Bow and Ana May Wong. You'll love this beautiful Tahoe themed suite! Your master suite is over 800 sf so you'll have plenty of room to stretch out. And the Jacuzzi is simply amazing! Conveniently located, east shore Lake Tahoe is a beautiful 20 minute drive and Reno is 30 minutes away. Please be aware that we cannot accommodate early check-ins or late check-outs. We need the time between check-out and check-in to make sure your room is properly cleaned and sanitized. :) Also, there is NO SMOKING on the premises.

The room includes a Tahoe style bunk bed featuring a queen-size bed on the bottom and a twin-size bed on the top. The bedroom has plenty of sunshine from its three windows. The large, luxurious bathroom, with a sunken tub for soaking, and a rain-shower feature, is located just steps down the hallway.

This is a great couples retreat for 21 and older, no children or infants. I do live on the premises with my dog. Rustic river Rock wood burning fireplace with jacuzzi and magical backyard where bears have roamed. Hiking in the summer. Barbecue grill is available and firepit in backyard. Colorful aspen trees in backyard during the fall. You can snow shoe out the backyard or even cross-country ski. Only 5 miles from Heavenly Ski Resort, 6 miles from the casinos and 5 miles to the lake.
