All about Punta Cana
Explore luxury vacation rentals in Punta Cana
There is much to be said for booking a vacation where sunshine is almost guaranteed. With a destination like the Dominican Republic, hot sunny weather is a year-round situation. It’s just one of the reasons why this location is the most visited destination in all of the Caribbean. The glistening white sandy beaches, azure seas, natural water lagoons, and limitless activities for all the family may have something to do with it, too. Whether you are planning a romantic getaway, arranging a family get together, or a trip with friends, booking a Punta Cana luxury villa is a decision you won’t regret.
Excellent dining options
Sand as far as the eye can see
The Dominican Republic has over 800 miles of coastline, and Punta Cana takes up 20 miles of it. The main attraction is Playa Bavaro, a six-mile-long beach famous for its calm waters and white sands. The beach can be busy in high season, but it’s plenty big enough for everyone and there are beachfront cafes if you need to take a break from the hot sun.
Playa Juanillo is often less crowded than Bavaro, and has equally lovely surroundings, although with fewer amenities. The beach is managed by Cap Cana Resort, so if you’re not staying at one of the resort villas you’ll need to get a day pass to access.
If you’re traveling with young children then Playa Blanca is a great option. It’s lagoon-like waters stay shallow for quite a distance making it a safe place for little ones to play. Like Juanillo, a day pass is required to access the beach. There’s also a lovely beach restaurant for when lunchtime rolls around.
Surfers should head to nearby Playa Macao to catch some waves – it’s one of the best beaches on the island for watersports. If you’d like to try your hand at surfing for the first time, it’s easy to find lessons and equipment rental.
Explore Santo Domingo
If you love to mix beach days with time spent exploring local towns, Punta Cana makes a great choice as it’s only a couple of hours’ drive from the island’s fascinating capital, Santo Domingo.
Santo Domingo is the oldest city in the Caribbean and its central, walled old town, known as the Zona Colonial, is filled with cobbled streets and Spanish colonial architecture. While away a day by taking a coffee in the Plaza de Espana and looking at the Mediaeval and Renaissance art collection in the Alcazar de Colon palace, the former residence of Christopher Columbus’ son Diego, once the island’s governor.
Island excursions
If you are vacationing here between January and March, you can add diving with humpback whales to your checklist. The whales can be spotted at Silver Banks, an area off the North Coast. If windsurfing is more your thing, move on to Cabarete, and take a lesson or two. Between Punta Cana and Santo Domingo, just off the coast, you’ll find the island of Saona, which can be explored by catamaran is a popular trip with snorkelers and divers alike.

Life’s a beach
When it comes to holidaying in Punta Cana, the most important decision to make is which of our Punta Cana beach house rentals to call your own. Each villa is set within lush tropical gardens, with close proximity to white sandy beaches where a myriad of water sports can be enjoyed, such as paddle boarding, water skiing, kayaking and so much more.
Nearby, the area’s signature freshwater lagoons are there for you and your holiday crew to explore.
Golf lovers will be pleased to know that the La Cana Golf Course, with its 27 holes over three nines, is a quick golf buggy drive away. Nature fans will take real delight in the Ojos Indigenas Ecological Reserve, which hosts over 100 different types of bird species. All of these are just waiting for you outside your villas’ expansive sun terraces, with heated infinity pools, hot tubs, thatched palapas (gazebos), and alfresco dining areas.
Inside the villas reveal high ceiling rooms with vast windows with ocean views, state-of-the-art kitchens, fully stocked bars, and bedrooms with en-suite spa bathrooms all set in a Colonial Spanish decor. A butler, chauffeur, private Cordon Bleu chef and full housekeeping service are available to ensure you and your fellow vacationers can kick back and relax in true style.
