Terva-Karko torppa in Suvanto Museum Village

This is not often the kind of place to stay on Airbnb. A more than 130-year-old log cabin in the cultural heritage landscape of Suvanto takes its residents on a time journey to a 19th-century Ostrobothnian village. The destination is best suited for lovers of Lapland's nature, history and silence, who are not afraid of the dark in winter or mosquitoes in summer. Please note: there is no public transportation to the village, no toilet in the main building, nor a shower. There is a separate sauna building outside and a traditional outhouse behind the sauna.

The cottage has original charm, with a new beautiful decor. Good kitchen. Sleeping downstairs or in the loft. The loft ladder is steep. The cottage has wifi, a 43’ TV, and the radio has a bluetooth connection. Bathroom furniture has been renovated. The cottage has a good sauna, washing machine and drying cabinet. Linens and final cleaning are included.

The rush gets lost in the bridge that crosses Kitise, as the village landscape opens up to the front. The fields with the rooftop grass booths make it feel like a pause. Koivula House is located in the historically valuable village of Suvanto, where the oldest buildings are from the end of the 19th century. On the scenic Kemijoki shoreline from Rovaniemi, about an hour drive, 65 km towards Kuusamo. I recommend renting a car. 75 m2 cottage with all amenities, two bedrooms, kitchen-living room, sauna, bathroom, porch and terrace. Near the cottage there is a (approx. 700 m) beach. Opportunities for snowmobiling, fishing, berry picking, hunting and camping. There is a boat landing point about 1.2 km away.
